Having a shelter is a great way to construct better workstations and keep zombies and raiders at bay. If you have enough materials, you can upgrade the walls of your shelter, making it harder for other players to break in. You can be as strategic or creative as you want with your shelter, but remember: you only have a set space to build.
How do I Build a Basic Shelter?
1 - Clear the desired area of your base on which you wish to build your shelter (trees, rocks, etc.)
2 - Gather as much Sandstone and Lumber as you can carry
3 - Open up the Buildings Menu pressing the L button on the Switch
4 - Use the Arrow buttons to navigate through the building options and select the floor
5 - Once the floor is highlighted green on the ground, Press the A button to place it
6 - Create the floor layout the way you want
7 - Use the Arrow buttons and highlight and place: walls, windows, and at least 1 door!
8 - Exit out of the Buildings Menu, and your new shelter should keep out the hordes of zombies
How do I Upgrade my Shelter?
1 - Open up the Buildings Menu by pressing the L button
2 - Select/Highlight one of walls or floors using the analog stick
3 - Upgrading requires Bricks and Lumber Planks, which requires a Stone Workstation, and a Wood Workstation
4 - If these items are already in your inventory, press the A button to upgrade it
* Remember, all upgrades are permanent. Some workstations even require a floor upgrade in order to be placed.
But that's it! If you find yourself puzzled at any point, you can always find more tutorials in the FAQ, or submit a ticket if you come across a glitch or two. Good luck Survivor!!
